Chapter 006 : Tag Questions

🔹 Apa itu Tag Question?

Tag question adalah pertanyaan pendek yang ditambahkan di akhir kalimat pernyataan untuk:

1. Memastikan atau mengonfirmasi sesuatu.

2. Mencari persetujuan dari lawan bicara.

Dalam bahasa Indonesia, fungsinya seperti:

• "kan?"

• "bukan?"

• "ya?"

🔹 Struktur Umum Tag Question

Tag question terdiri dari dua bagian:

→ Kalimat Pernyataan, + Question Tag?

Dan aturannya adalah:

Jenis Kalimat
Kalimat positif → Tag negatif
Kalimat negatif → Tag positif

🔹 Rumus Tag Question Dalam Kalimat

1. Kalimat dengan to be

Contoh:

• She is tired, isn’t she?

• They are students, aren’t they?

• He wasn’t there, was he?

2. Kalimat dengan auxiliary/modal verbs

Contoh:

• You will help me, won’t you?

• They can’t swim, can they?

• She has finished, hasn’t she?

3. Kalimat dengan simple present/past tanpa auxiliary

Untuk kalimat simple yang tidak memakai kata kerja bantu, gunakan do/does (present) atau did (past).

Contoh:

• You like music, don’t you?

• He likes tea, doesn’t he?

• They went to school, didn’t they?

• She didn’t call you, did she?

🔹 Daftar Question Tag yang Umum

I am late,	aren’t I?*
You are a student,	aren’t you?
She was here,	wasn’t she?
He plays guitar,	doesn’t he?
They didn’t come,	did they?
We will go,	won’t we?

⚠️ Catatan khusus:

• “I am” menggunakan "aren’t I?" sebagai pengecualian.

• Kalimat perintah positif memakai tag “will you?”

• Kalimat perintah negatif memakai tag “won’t you?”
  Contoh: Don’t be late, will you?

🔹 Intonasi dalam Tag Question

➤ Intonasi naik (rising intonation)

Digunakan saat benar-benar bertanya atau ragu.
Contoh:

• You’re a teacher, aren’t you? (↑)

➤ Intonasi turun (falling intonation)

Digunakan saat yakin dan hanya ingin konfirmasi.
Contoh:

• It’s cold today, isn’t it? (↓)
